Picton is an ideal place to base yourself if you are intending to explore the Marlborough region. It is also one days travel to Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch. The Queen Charlotte Track is easily accessible from Picton and involves a short boat ride.
The Queen Charlotte Track is New Zealand's premiere coastal trail and is starting to rival other well known tracks such as the Milford and Routeburn tracks.The walk is a four day trek covering 71 kms, it can be accomplished by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. There are no heavy packs to carry as all your overnight luggage is transferred daily by water taxi.
Greg is also the owner/operator of Natural Encounters Walks, he runs a variety of all inclusive guided and independent walking packages on the Queen Charlotte Track staying in small, well appointed lodge accommodation.

The Marlborough region also offers excellent fishing charters and is a hunters paradise with wild pigs, deer and goats roaming the native bush. The sheltered sounds are also ideal for kayaking trips and boat cruises, which allow you to explore small beaches and coves which are only accessible by sea.
