Highlights of the Marlborough Sounds
One Day Guided Walk & Cruise
Stay for two nights and on the second day travel out into the Marlborough Sounds by water taxi with your nature guide to visit a predator free bird sanctuary island. Home to some of New Zealand rarest birds that are now virtually extinct on the mainland. Along the way we may even see dolphins, seals and penguins that live in this area.
Then its over to Ship Cove and the start of the world famous Queen Charlotte Track. Ship Cove is where Captain Cook visited five times over a seven year period and one of the most scenic bays in the Marlborough Sounds.
We then jump back onboard the boat to be taken around to Resolution Bay where the locals have set up a voluntary marine reserve. We have time to feed the large Blue Cod here before beginning our three hour walk around to Endeavor Inlet. Along the way we stop for lunch at a spectacular view point before making our way down to the wharf where get the afternoon Mail Boat back to Picton. Beachcomber Cruises mailboat is the only licensed operator to deliver NZ Post mail to this remote part of New Zealand and on the way back we will make a few stops as we drop off the post.
